For the past few of years, the North Carolina Symphony has performed beside the Pamlico River in Washington, NC. This year’s program was Aaron Copeland’s “An Outdoor Overture,” Symphony Member Terry Mizesko’s “Sketches of Pinehurst,” and Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. The opening pieces were very nice. I don’t think I’ve ever heard The Fifth live in its entirety (hey, I was raised in the country), and it was wonderful to hear outdoors in absolutely perfect, breezy summer air.
The emerald City Big Band played a lengthy set before the Symphony came on. A real treat for this small town.
